◆ SPROUT SOCIAL PRICING
Sprout Social publishes four self-serve tiers plus Enterprise, all billed per seat. It is one of the most capable platforms in the category and priced accordingly — the entry tier costs more per month than most competitors' top tier.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $79per seat / month, billed annually ($99 monthly) | 5 social profiles. Publishing, engagement, reporting, AI agent credits, mobile app. |
| Standard | $199per seat / month | 5 profiles. Adds consolidated inbox, collaboration, keyword and location monitoring, review management. |
| Professional | $299per seat / month | Unlimited profiles. Adds message tagging, competitor and paid insights, AI post composition. |
| Advanced | $399per seat / month | Unlimited profiles. Adds sentiment analysis, AI replies, Sprout API, helpdesk integrations, spike alerts. |
| Enterprise | Customcontact sales | White-glove onboarding, dedicated SSO support, priority service. |

Every tier is priced per seat, and every additional person pays the same rate. One person on Professional is $299 a month; a five-person team on Professional is $1,495 a month. Team size, not tier, is usually what determines the contract value.
That structure makes sense for what Sprout is — inbox routing, message assignment, and approval chains are only useful when several people share the work. You are paying for coordination, and coordination is inherently per person.
Before comparing tiers, count seats. A two-person team on Essentials ($158/month) is a different purchase from a two-person team on Advanced ($798/month), and the tier jump is often driven by one missing feature rather than by need across the board.
Essentials at $79 is newer and deliberately stripped back: publishing, engagement, and reporting for 5 profiles. It exists to compete with mid-market tools rather than to be Sprout's real product.
Standard at $199 is where the consolidated inbox and review management arrive — for many buyers that is the actual reason they came to Sprout, which makes $199 the effective entry price rather than $79.
Professional at $299 removes the profile cap and adds competitive and paid insights. Advanced at $399 is the analytics tier: sentiment analysis, AI-assisted replies, API access, and helpdesk integration.
The pattern to watch is that profile limits and inbox features are split across tiers, so a small team needing unlimited profiles pays Professional rates even if they only need two seats.
If you report to a client or a board, largely yes. Sprout's reporting is the category standard and its exports are presentable without rework. Social listening, sentiment analysis, and competitor benchmarking are genuinely strong and not easily replicated at lower price points.
The failure mode is buying analytics to solve a production problem. If your accounts are quiet because nobody has time to make content, Sprout will report that fact accurately, in detail, at $79 a seat and up — and the posting still will not happen.
The 30-day trial with no card is unusually generous and worth using in full. A month is long enough to find out whether you open the dashboards after week two.
◆ A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE
Sprout Social is built for teams who need to measure and coordinate a social operation. If you have no team and the real gap is that nothing gets posted, PostOtter writes the captions, generates on-brand images and real 9:16 video, and publishes 21 posts a week to Instagram, TikTok, and X for $14.99/month flat. It has no listening, no inbox, no approvals, and covers three networks — so it replaces the production, not the platform.
Essentials is $79 per seat per month billed annually ($99 monthly), Standard is $199, Professional is $299, and Advanced is $399 per seat per month. Enterprise is custom-priced.
Yes, every tier is per seat. A five-person team on Professional pays roughly $1,495 a month, since each seat is charged at the full rate.
No permanent free plan, but there is a 30-day free trial with no credit card required — the longest trial among the major platforms.
Essentials and Standard include 5 social profiles. Professional and Advanced include unlimited profiles.
It is built for teams that need social listening, sentiment analysis, message routing, approvals, and client-grade reporting. That capability is expensive to build and is priced per seat because it is coordination software.
Metricool offers real analytics from around $22/month, Buffer handles scheduling from $5 per channel, and PostOtter generates and publishes content for $14.99/month. All cover materially less than Sprout does.
