LATER PRICING

Later pricing in 2026.
Watch the post caps, not the price.

Later's three plans look straightforward, but two details do the real work: a 'social set' is a bundle of profiles rather than a single account, and every tier below Scale caps how many posts you can publish per profile each month.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Starter$18.75per month1 social set (8 profiles), 1 user, 30 posts per profile per month.
Growth$37.50per month2 social sets (16 profiles), 2 users, 180 posts per profile per month.
Scale$82.50per month6 social sets (48 profiles), 4 users, unlimited posts.

Pricing as published on later.com in August 2026 and subject to change. Annual billing is advertised at roughly 25% off (three months free). Check later.com/pricing for current figures.

What a 'social set' actually means

Later does not bill per individual account the way Buffer does. A social set is a bundle of up to eight profiles — typically one account on each supported network — and the plan tier determines how many sets you get.

For a single business this is generous: one set covers Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Pinterest, and LinkedIn with room spare, all for $18.75 on Starter. You are unlikely to exhaust one set unless you run several brands.

The model favours single businesses and penalises agencies. Managing three clients means three sets, which pushes you to Growth or Scale on set count alone, regardless of how much you actually post.

The post cap is the real constraint

Starter allows 30 posts per profile per month. That sounds ample until you count: posting once a day to a single profile is about 30 posts, so daily posting on Instagram alone consumes the entire Starter allowance for that profile.

The cap is per profile rather than shared, so daily posting to Instagram and TikTok is fine on Starter — each gets its own 30. But twice-daily posting, or Stories-heavy workflows, will hit the ceiling and force an upgrade to Growth's 180.

Growth's 180 per profile is effectively unlimited for a normal business. Scale removes the cap entirely, which mostly matters for agencies and high-volume publishers.

Who Later is genuinely priced well for

Visual brands that shoot their own content and post roughly daily. At $18.75 you get the grid preview, the visual planner, link-in-bio, and Pinterest coverage that very few competitors handle properly — that is a lot of product for under twenty dollars.

The assumption baked into every tier is that you have a media library. Later's core value is arranging and previewing content you already have, and its best feature — seeing your Instagram grid before it publishes — is meaningless if the grid is empty.

So the pricing question for Later is not really which tier. It is whether you shoot regularly enough to fill any of them.

What to check before you commit

  • Starter's 30 posts per profile per month is roughly one post a day — enough for daily posting, not for more.
  • A social set is up to 8 profiles, so one set usually covers a single business entirely.
  • Extra users are tied to tier: 1 on Starter, 2 on Growth, 4 on Scale. There is no per-seat add-on.
  • Annual billing is advertised at about 25% off, so the monthly figures assume no commitment.
  • Later plans and previews content. No tier writes captions from scratch or generates images and video for you.

◆ A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE

If the bottleneck is making the posts, not scheduling them

Later is priced well for businesses that shoot their own content. If the camera roll is empty — most trades, professional services, and B2B software — the planner has nothing to plan. PostOtter generates the images and real 9:16 video itself, writes the captions, and publishes 21 posts a week to Instagram, TikTok, and X for $14.99/month. Later still wins on grid planning, link-in-bio, and Pinterest, none of which PostOtter offers.

Later pricing FAQ

How much does Later cost per month?

Starter is $18.75, Growth is $37.50, and Scale is $82.50 per month. Annual billing is advertised at roughly 25% off those rates.

What is a social set in Later?

A bundle of up to 8 social profiles — usually one account per network. Starter includes 1 set, Growth 2, and Scale 6.

Does Later limit how many posts I can schedule?

Yes, on the lower tiers. Starter allows 30 posts per profile per month and Growth allows 180. Scale is unlimited.

Is there a free plan on Later?

Paid plans come with a 14-day free trial. There is no permanently free tier equivalent to Buffer's.

Is Later cheaper than Buffer?

It depends on channels. Later's Starter is $18.75 for up to 8 profiles; Buffer's Essentials is $5 per channel, so three channels is $15 and six is $30. Later is better value once you connect more than about four profiles.

Does Later create content for me?

No. Later offers AI caption assistance, but it is a planning and scheduling tool — you supply the photos and video, which is the point of its visual planner.
